The Republican National Committee chooses to spend $150,000 on Sarah Palin to outfit her as befitting a Vice Presidential Candidate. The press runs story after story on how ridiculous this is. Maybe, maybe not. But then, it’s not taxpayer money. Palin isn’t in the same financial league as her running mates. She more than likely didn’t frequent Sachs Fifth Avenue in Alaska. And she more than likely doesn’t have a wardrobe to last through countless speaches through countless cities across America. I’m not upset at the RNC for spending this money, and I, as a Republican, would have a right to be.
Then the Democratic National Committee spends $2 million on a planned celebration party in Chicago for Obama. Even the Mayor of Chicago suggested the campaign find a less expensive venue, but he was ignored. No expenses spared for Obama. Fox News runs the story, using the oft-used phrase ”Obamapalooza.” But the news of this isn’t on the websites of MSNBC, or CNN, as of 4:00 PM today.
Can we please stop the double standard here? Would the Media please stop whining about Palin’s clothes, and get back to the legitimate concerns of this campaign?
