A Call to Senator Brent Hill, Chairman of the Local Government and Taxation Committee of the Idaho State Senate
House Bill 577 which modifies Section 50-1722 of Idaho Code and adds a requirement that bonds issued pursuant to a Local Improvement District be subject to a vote of the people, recently passed the House and has been in the Local Government and Taxation committee since March 10th. I urge your committee to send this bill to the senate floor for approval. The ability of a city to finance a purchase through bonds should be subject to the right of the people to vote on that action. Using the LID statute to circumvent the people’s right to vote is an abuse of power.
The people of this state should have a voice in such a monumental decision by their city government.

To all of you who feel as if the city of Eagle is abusing its power and circumventing a vote of the people on a monumental decision by failing to let us vote on the purchase of Eagle Water Company, please contact Senator Brent Hill. It is important to let him know your thoughts on this bill, which was sponsored by House Representative Raul Labrador of the 14th District. Comments can be sent to Senator Hill via this link:
